Challenges

KPI Ninja was initially developed as a minimum viable product (MVP) by a group of master’s students in Nebraska, USA. Their primary challenge was to upgrade and evolve their MVP into a robust and scalable platform capable of meeting the needs of a rapidly growing client base of hospitals and healthcare systems.

The existing platform required enhancements to handle daily KPI tracking and reporting effectively, improve data visualization, and support advanced analytics to drive healthcare performance improvements.

Our Solution

We led the upgrade and scaling process for KPI Ninja’s MVP, focusing on enhancing data processing capabilities, improving the user interface for better usability, and integrating new features tailored to the specific needs of healthcare organizations.

We implemented a more scalable architecture to accommodate increased data volumes and introduced advanced analytics and reporting tools to provide deeper insights into hospital performance.

Process

The project was executed in three phases over two years:

Upgrade and Scaling: We transitioned the MVP to a more scalable architecture, optimizing data handling processes to ensure real-time KPI tracking and reporting. This phase involved refactoring code, optimizing database queries, and deploying scalable infrastructure.

Feature Additions: In three successive rounds, we introduced new features, including enhanced data visualization tools, predictive analytics capabilities, and automated reporting functions. These features were developed in close collaboration with end-users to ensure they met the specific needs of hospital administrators and healthcare providers.

User Feedback and Iteration: We continuously gathered user feedback to refine and optimize the platform. Regular updates were deployed to improve functionality, address issues, and enhance the user experience based on real-world usage.

Results

The upgraded KPI Ninja platform successfully supported the needs of their expanding hospital and healthcare system customer base. It provided comprehensive KPI tracking and advanced analytics tools, significantly improving hospitals’ ability to measure, analyze, and enhance their performance.
